I was raised in the riding of Fredericton South, from early childhood learning at the YMCA, going to school at Connaught Street, George Street and Fredericton High Schools, performing with Characters Incorporated, playing rugby for the Black Kats, Loyalists and the NB provincial team (U-19), scooping ice cream and ringing in groceries at Tingley’s Save Easy all the way to environmental assessment work with Washburn & Gillis as a young person.
I moved to Kingston, Ontario to attend Queen's University, graduating with degrees in both Chemistry and Economics. Next I explored Canada and the world by working in Toronto and Ottawa, as well as Australia and India. I built a career in technology companies including Xerox, HP, and Cognos/IBM, learning the principles of agile development and user-centered design that I will apply to my work in politics and in government.
I moved back to Fredericton South in 2007, married my high school sweetheart Jon, and together we’ve grown to a family of 5 (daughters Molly - 5yo, Paige - 3yo and Brooke - 7 weeks old) first on University Avenue and now in Sunshine Gardens. In the past 10 years I have become actively and deeply involved in this community.
I’ve worked in the IT sector (Chalk Media / Research In Motion-Blackberry), volunteered with the early Cybersocials, was CEO of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, have been a member of the Ultimate Frisbee community, worked with post-secondary students through UNB's IBEC, the PondDeshpande Centre and the Loran Scholars program, fundraised for Cystic Fibrosis, the Food Bank, the Cancer Society and others. I've given my time as a board member for the Playhouse, Harvest Jazz and Blues, JEDI, Junior Achievement, and the NB Lung Association.
I’ve also learned much about how government works over the past 2+ years in a senior role in the civil service. This has reinforced my belief that how we build, approve and implement policy needs to change.
With deep local roots and rich experience across government, business and community organizations, paired with a passion and vision for change, I am uniquely prepared to connect the people of Fredericton South and government’s decision-making and policy-making processes.
